A "Deep tissue massage" does not have to be painful. deep tissue massages can be as much as the therapist using the tip of their finger, but is specific in targeting the injured area. "Deep" is focused work, not painful work. We strive for two sessions; the first session opens up the tissue and the second allows the therapist to go deeper into the area; now having the muscle tissue softened & warmed up. you can always communicate with your THERAPIST to adjust the level of pressure being used.
What should I do during the session?
You want to focus on relaxing your body. Deep breathing helps the body relax. You can always communicate with your therapist to adjust the level of pressure being used.
Will I be sore after my session?
Your body can feel a bit sore or tender within the areas that were worked on extensively as the adhesions in the muscles are becoming relieved, we always RECOMMEND ice to the area that was worked on, in addition to drinking plenty of water to help flush your system from the lactic acid buildup. Cold compresses and/or ice will help reduce INFLAMMATION and warm epsom salt baths/soaks will aid in keeping the muscles RELAXED. (ask your therapist for more INFORMATION).
